The mission of the Denny Ashby Library is to inspire lifelong learning,
promote literacy, and strengthen community in Garfield County.
1 out of 2 jobs today require information technology (IT) skills. In less than 10 years, this number will increase to 3 out of every 4 jobs requiring IT skills*. Are you ready?
Through a partnership with Microsoft, Washington state libraries will soon offer Microsoft IT Academy to library patrons at no cost. More details coming soon!
Through the eREADS in eWashington program library patrons can check out a NOOK Simple Touch, pre-loaded with a selection of titles. The goal of the project is to demystify the eReading experience for library patrons and connect libraries through resource sharing.
Six library systems in a five-county area are participating. Patrons with a Denny Ashby Library card have the option of checking out one of 12 NOOKs. A $25.00 deposit is required upon checkout. The NOOKs will rotate among libraries, and our library will always have two "living" here. Each NOOK is pre-loaded with a variety of books from 12 different genres: Classics, Contemporary/Literary Fiction, Biography, Young Adult, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Romance, Readable Nonfiction, Thrillers/Suspense, and Fantasy. We are currently circulating NOOKs containing Thrillers/Suspense and Fantasy.
Check the library's Facebook page for NOOK arrival dates and lists of titles. Questions? Contact the library: 509-843-3710.
The project is funded through a grant from the Washington State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
